Which Type of Veranda is the Right Fit for My Garden?

A veranda can make a beautiful addition to your property. Grassmoor Glass Ltd, your reliable local glaziers in Chesterfield, has compiled a list of different types of verandas so you can find your perfect fit. So, read on to discover which veranda is right for you.

What is a veranda?

A veranda is a covered structure along the outside of a house. It is usually level with the ground floor and often extends across both the front and the sides of the structure. This outdoor living space can be partly enclosed by a railing.

What are the different types of veranda available?

When it comes to verandas, there are plenty of different styles and designs available. Once you have worked out the amount of space you can devote to this new addition, you will need to decide what style you want to opt for:

Flat

This is the simplest design, proving to be very versatile. A flat roof can accommodate most ideas and desires due to the open nature of this design. For example, for those of you with an outdoor pool near your house you could extend the roof so that it curves around the edge of it, giving an extra sense of symmetry.

Curved

A veranda featuring a curved roof can take on a more elegant feel in comparison to the more straightforward designs. This style will offer you shelter from the sun but additionally opens up the veranda in a way the flat roof will not.

Another benefit is that a curved roof can also be combined with other types of verandas. This is an ideal solution if you have the space, as it breaks up what would otherwise be a continual flat roof and gives it more interest, which adds a focal point to the whole structure.

Gazebo

A gazebo is known for being a complex and striking design. The presence of clear sections in the roof design means you will still get sufficient light streaming into the area, regardless of the size of the finished gazebo.

Pergola

A pergola is a structure that can either be attached to the house and look like an extension, or one that can be detached and totally separate. Again, you’ll have plenty of choices when it comes to style and design.

Sunroof

A sunroof will keep the sun off you when the weather is too hot but will also allow you to see the best of the weather when the temperature is just right. It features louvres which can be opened or closed whenever you like.
