Back Door Styles to Consider for a Kitchen Renovation

Grassmoor Glass • August 13, 2020
Composite front door

Spending time in the kitchen is even better when you have great views out into your garden! If you’re in the midst of planning your dream kitchen renovation, consider these three back door styles for a secure, energy-efficient and stylish way to merge the indoors and outdoors.

French doors

French doors are one of the most popular back door options. They let lots of light in and can be installed without taking up a huge amount of space. If you’d like something bigger than a standard single back door, but don’t want to renovate the entire back wall of your home, then installing French doors is a happy compromise.

French doors can be opened slightly to allow lots of fresh air in or can be shut and locked easily for extra security, making them a great option if you have children or pets. They’re also one of the most affordable back door styles, making them perfect for all budgets.

Sliding doors

Sliding doors are another popular choice for back doors. With large glass frames that allow lots of light in, they are a stunning choice for keeping kitchens looking light and airy. If your kitchen is on the smaller side, sliding doors can help to make the room look more spacious. They are also a great space-saving option as they don’t open in or outwards.

Perhaps the greatest benefit of sliding doors is that they offer exceptional views across the garden; with such slim frames, there’s very little to block your view! This is a huge advantage if you take great pride in the appearance of your garden.

Bi-folding doors

Similarly to sliding doors, bi-folding doors are another brilliant space-saving option for kitchens. If you have a small garden or patio, doors that tuck neatly to the side - such as bi-folding doors - are a great alternative to French doors. Like sliding doors, bi-fold doors allow lots of light into the property and can be opened as much or as little as you like.

If you enjoy hosting dinner parties or eating outside, being able to open up the entire back wall of your kitchen is a huge luxury. Guests will be able to wander freely between the kitchen and your patio without the door swinging closed every time.

Are you planning a kitchen renovation? Enhance the appearance of your space with a set of beautiful French, sliding or bi-fold doors from Grassmoor Glass. We can design and install the back doors of your dreams, keeping your specific requirements and budgetary constraints in mind.
